Lawson Commits to The University of Vermont

Bensenville, IL (December 31, 2006) -- The Chicago Steel are proud to announce that defenseman Dan Lawson has committed to the University of Vermont for the 2007-2008 season. A native of Oak Forest, IL, Lawson is in his second season with the Steel and has recorded 9 points (5g, 4a) in 24 games.

Lawson becomes the ninth Steel player to commit to a NCAA Division I school this year.

"Dan has been our top defenseman since my arrival and I forsee good things at the college level and possibly the pro level down the road," said Steel General Manager Jason Koehler. "He has a nice mix of size, skill, and physical presence when on the ice for us and will be a great addition to the Catamount hockey program next fall."

Two seasons ago, Lawson played for the highly regarded Chicago Chill AAA program and head coach Anders Sorenson before joining the Steel in 2005-2006 as one of the Steel's top draft selections in the 2005 USHL May Entry Draft. Last season, in 53 games with the Steel, Lawson posted 5 points on one goal and four assists.
