Oilers
Bensenville, IL (January 16, 2007) --
The Chicago Steel are proud to report that another
member of the Steel alumni has made it to the
professional hockey ranks and is skating with the NHL's
Edmonton Oilers.
Defenseman Tom Gilbert, who skated for Steel in
2001-2002 and is a graduate of the University of
Wisconsin, made his NHL debut on January 10th against
the San Jose Sharks. Gilbert registered one shot and was
plus one in the victory for Edmonton.
When Gilbert skated with the Steel during the 2001-2002
season, he tallied 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points
which led the league in goals by a defenseman and also
ranked him third in power-play goals by a blueliner with
6. Gilbert was selected to play in the 2002 USHL
All-Star game where he represented the Steel.
In his senior year for the University of Wisconsin,
2005-2006, he finished third on the team in points with
30; 11 goals and 19 assists. One of his college career
highlights - he scored the game-winning goal in the NCAA

College.
The Chicago Steel organization wishes Tom the best of
luck in the NHL and continued success throughout his
