Olympic Gold
Medalist to Drop Puck
Bensenville, IL (November 13th, 2007)
-- The Chicago Steel would like to
announce that local Special Olympics gold medalist,
Dustin Dickens, will be in attendance to do the
ceremonial puck-drop for the Chicago Steel this
Saturday, November 17th at 7:30 p.m. The
22-year old power lifter from Elburn, Illinois won a
Gold medal in men’s bench press and three Bronze medals
in men’s squat, dead lift, and a combination event this
past summer at the 2007 World Special Olympics in
Shanghai, China. Dustin was one of 7,000 athletes from
170 different countries to compete in the World Special
Olympics. His dream as a child was to be a starter for
the Disney hockey movie “The Mighty Ducks.” Dustin was
also named Kaneland High School Student of the Month for
his outstanding achievements in his senior physical
education class. Dickens started lifting weights to stay
in shape, but soon realized his abilities were
extraordinary and would take him to an international
stage. Come out and see a
local hero drop the ceremonial puck when the Chicago
Steel takes on the Omaha Lancers Saturday, November 17th
at 7:30 p.m. The Steel have a back to back home stint
with Omaha this weekend, both nights the puck will drop
