Steel Score 10 in Victory over Indiana
Bensenville, IL (November 23rd, 2007)
-- The Chicago Steel turned in a very impressive
performance, to say the least, against the Indiana Ice
(11-4-0) on Friday night. Contributing to the 10-3
defeat was Steel Forward Andrew Miele (University
of Miami-Ohio),
Forward Eric Alexander,
Forward Drew Leblanc (St.
Cloud State),
and Forward Dan Otto
(Yale).
Miele (4 goals) and Alexander each had hat tricks,
LeBlanc put up a pair, and Otto had one goal. Chicago
went 4 for 7 on the power play as both Indiana
goalkeepers gave up five goals a piece. Miele struck
first on a 5 on 3 power play at the 6:44 mark in the
first period. Not a minute had passed before Miele had
put his second goal of the night into the back of the
net (7:25). He would eventually score again at the end
of the second period and another goal about midway
through the third period. Alexander had a goal in each
of the three periods, and LeBlanc’s first goal in the
first period turned out to be all the Steel really
needed to win this game. The early goal surge set the
tone for the game, and the Steel never really gave
Indiana the chance to get back in it.The following
players had assists tonight: Will Weber (University
of Miami-Ohio) (1), Dominic Morrone (1), Mark Anthoine
(University of Maine)(1), Drew LeBlanc (3), Max Nicastro
(Boston University)(2), Brian O’Neill (Yale) (3), Andy
Miele (1),and Simon Olsson(2). Steel goalkeeper Rob
Madore (University of Vermont) saved 38 of the 41 shots
he faced in a winning effort.
With the win, the Steel
improved to 6-7-3, and will face the Waterloo Blackhawks
(9-4-2) on Saturday night, 7:30 P.M. at the Edge Ice
Arena in Bensenville, Illinois. Tickets are still
available for tonight’s game. To purchase your tickets,
please visit the box office or call (630) 594-1165.
