Steel Look To Bounce Back Next Weekend

Bensenville, IL (November 5th, 2007) -- The Chicago Steel faced off against the East and West Divisional leaders this weekend in Omaha Friday night and Cedar Rapids Saturday night; neither night ended with the outcome that Chicago was looking for.

Omaha came out and scored early against The Steel as Aaron Lewadniuk scored 2:57 in for Omaha.  The scoring did not stop in the first, as the Lancers were able to put four more up on the scoreboard before heading into the locker room.  The Steel were able to slow down the Lancers, but the penalties ended up hurting Chicago even more as the Lancers scored their final three goals of the day on the power play.   Omaha ended up 5 for 9 on the powerplay.

Saturday night The Steel were looking for a completely different game and they came out proving that by getting on the scoreboard first from a goal from Drew LeBlanc; Andy Miele and Brian O’Neill assisted on the goal.  Cedar Rapids’ Mike Seidel even the score at 1, but Andrew Miller gave the Steel the lead back to head into the 3rd period; Will Weber was given the assist on Millers goal.

The third period proved to be Cedar Rapids’ as they tied it up and took the lead for the first time with 9 minutes left in the game.  The Steel battled but were not able to find the back of the net to tie the game.

The Steel are back in action Friday and Saturday night in Sioux City and Sioux Falls, respectively.  The Steel return back to The Edge Ice Arena on November 16th and 17th as they take on The Lancers, both games start at 7:30pm.  Tickets are still available and there will be Human Bowling Friday Night, and Turkey Bowling Saturday night.
