Steel Futures Pick Named Top Goalie in Minnesota

Bensenville, IL (February 26th, 2007) -- On February 13th, The Minnesota Minutemen announced that goaltender Reid Ellingson of Cloquet High School won The Frank Brimsek Award in recognition of the state’s top senior goaltender in Minnesota.

Ellingson was selected by the Steel in the first round (6th overall) in the 2006 USHL Futures Draft held last October.

"We are excited for Reid and his accomplishments this season at Cloquet, " said Steel General Manager Jason Koehler. "Ellingson is one of the top goalies in the country and this just adds to his value as he is being heavily recruited by schools all over the country specifically the WCHA and ECAC. To know that we have have a player like Reid coming in to join our already strong group of players for next season is very promising."

Ellingson is also rated by NHL Central Scouting's Mid Term Rankings as the #18 overall North American goaltender. An '89 birthdate, he stand 5'11 170 lbs.

Ellingson is currently performing for his high school in the Minnesota High School State Championships in Sectional play.
