Madore Commits to Vermont

Bensenville, IL (April 18th, 2007) -- The Chicago Steel have announced that goaltender Rob Madore has committed to the Vermont Catamounts (Hockey East) for the 2008 season.

The high school senior and Venetia, PA native is in his first season with the Steel after playing the previous two years with the Pittsburgh Hornets AAA program for coaches Joe Gaul and Chris Stern. Madore was selected by the Steel in the 2006 USHL May Draft in the second round (13th overall).

Madore becomes the fourteenth Steel player to commit to a NCAA Division I school this year.

"Rob Madore has been one of the elite goalies in the USHL this season," said Steel General Manager Jason Koehler. "His stats may not reflect that at first glance, but those who have watched him this year know he's special. Rob's play has generated alot of interest from quality schools, but after his visit to Vermont he knew where he wanted to be for his college career. We're excited for Rob and also in the fact that we have the opportunity to return one of the best goalies in the league next season. Rob's a goalie that helps a team win a championship and should be an NHL Draft choice this June."

Vermont is a member of Hockey East. They finished 18-16-5 on the season.
