LeBlanc Commits to St. Cloud

Bensenville, IL (April 2nd, 2007) -- The Chicago Steel have announced that forward Drew LeBlanc has committed to the St. Cloud State Huskies (WCHA) for the 2008 season.

A native of Hermantown, MN, LeBlanc recently joined the Steel after completing his junior high school season with Hermantown High School and winning the Class A State Championship in March. LeBlanc is also rated by NHL Central Scouting for the June Entry Draft.

LeBlanc becomes the thirteenth Steel player to commit to a NCAA Division I school this year.

"Drew has shown in his short time with our program that he'll make an excellent college centerman with his hands, playmaking ability, and hockey sense," said Steel General Manager Jason Koehler. "He's quickly making the adjustment to the junior level now and is a key part of this program next season and will be one of the top forwards in the league next season. St. Cloud head coach Bob Motzko and his staff have to be excited they were able to lock up another one of the premier players in the state of Minnesota for their program. All three staff members with the Huskies have had success in the USHL and know what type of players they need to win evidenced by the season they had this year in St. Cloud. Drew will help continue to make the program there stronger."

St. Cloud is a member of the WCHA. They finished 22-11-7 on the season.
