McGann Commits to Quinnipiac

Bensenville, IL (May 3rd, 2007) -- The Chicago Steel have announced that goaltender Pat McGann has committed to the Quinnipiac Bobcats (ECACHL) for the 2007 season.

The 2005 Dallas Stars NHL draft choice and Evergreen Park, IL native was in his first season with the Steel after playing the previous season with the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders. McGann previously played for the Team Illinois Midget Major program.

McGann was acquired in a trade by the Steel in November 2006 along with Andy Miele and a draft choice in exchange for goaltender Richard Bachman.

Pat McGann becomes the fifteenth Steel player to commit to a NCAA Division I school this year.
"Pat McGann has two full years of experience as a solid goaltender in the USHL and should help Quinnipiac’s rise in college hockey," said Steel General Manager Jason Koehler. "McGann joined our program this past fall and provided us a veteran goaltender that has had success and is extremely competitive. We would expect the same as Pat joins the Bobcats this fall. We wish Pat all the best in his hockey future. Quinnipiac and head coach Rand Pecknold are definitely taking steps in the right direction with their program and we hope that Pat can contribute immediately for them.”

Quinnipiac is a member of the ECACHL. They finished 21-14-5 on the season.
