Steel Scout Heads to the WHL’s Silvertips

Bensenville, IL (June 29th, 2007) -- The Chicago Steel have announced that Regional Scout Mark LeRose has accepted the Assistant Coach position with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League (WHL) which competes in the CHL.

LeRose, from Aspen, Colorado, assisted the Steel with helping scout players within the Rocky Mountain District and the Upper Midwest High School Elite League which features the top players in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. LeRose had previously played at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY and worked as an Assistant Coach with the University of Wisconsin. He had also previously worked with Steel GM Jason Koehler when both were with the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) and the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL).

LeRose becomes the second Steel scout in the last few months to accept a new job in the coaching ranks and follows Eric Ballard, formerly of the Rocky Mountain Wranglers AAA program in Colorado – who has become the Assistant Coach of the Springfield Jr. Blues in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).

"We are very excited and proud for both Mark and Eric and their new positions," said Steel General Manager Jason Koehler. "Both men were extremely helpful in helping cover multiple areas of the country and players for our new Steel program and we wish both success in their new endeavors. They will each do very well and we look forward to continuing our positive relationships with both individuals and their new organizations.”
