Steel Announce September
Pre-season Schedule
Bensenville, IL (July 1st, 2007)
-- The Chicago Steel have announced their six exhibition
games to be played in September 2007, including the USHL
Fall Classic to be held in Sioux City, Iowa as they
prepare for the 2007-2008 USHL regular season.
For the team’s first exhibition tilt, the Steel head to
Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday, September 15th at 3pm
EST at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube to take on the USA
National Development Team Program Under -18 squad. The
USA NTDP U-18 team features some of the top 1990 born
players in the country as the team plays games in the
North American Hockey League, against NCAA Division I
opponents, and in international competition each season.
Two former USA NTDP U-18 players (Pat Kane and James
vanRiemsdyk) were selected first and second overall in
the recent June NHL Entry Draft.
Pre-season games two and three will see the Steel battle
Eastern Division rival, the Green Bay Gamblers in a home
and home series. The Steel travel to Green Bay,
Wisconsin on Thursday September 20th for a 7pm CST game
at the Resch Center – home of the Gamblers. Green Bay
returns the favor on Friday September 21st as the Steel
host the Gamblers at the Edge Ice Arena for the team’s
only home exhibition game at 7:30pm CST.
Finally, the Steel will join the other eleven USHL clubs
in Sioux City, Iowa for this year’s USHL Fall Classic
hosted by the Sioux City Musketeers September 27th –
29th. This event was previously held in Des Moines, Iowa
and titled the Buc Bowl and is the league’s showcase for
pro and college scouts which sees all USHL teams play
three games over three days - all exhibition contests.
The Steel will take on three Western Division opponents
while at the Fall Classic – Thursday vs. the Tri-City
Storm at 4pm CST at the Tyson Events Center, Friday vs.
the Omaha Lancers at 1pm CST at the Tyson Events Center,
and Saturday against the Lincoln Stars at 3pm at the IBP
Ice Center.
