Steel Release 2007-2008 Roster
Bensenville, IL (July 6th, 2007)
-- The Chicago Steel have announced their twenty-three
man protected roster for the upcoming 2007-2008 USHL
season.
“Last season we made significant changes in our player
personnel for the short and long term of the
competitiveness of the Steel franchise and I think our
fans and hockey observers will be very impressed and
excited with the collection of junior, college, and pro
talent we’ve assembled for this season and the future,”
stated Steel General Manager Jason Koehler.
“Our entire staff put a lot of time and effort in doing
their homework on our players, other organization’s
prospects and players, and free agents that would be
available to us in the May USHL Draft – at the end of
the day, we feel we did everything humanly possible to
make this program one of the top hockey operations
programs in the USHL for this upcoming season. As much
as we’d like to take some time off, our staff wants the
season to start now and get going due to the talent and
energy we have with team and roster going forward.”
The Steel have protected two goaltenders, seven
defensemen, and fourteen forwards. Ten players are
committed to NCAA Division I programs already, and one
player is already an NHL Draft choice entering the
season. One other player who is on the USHL / USA Hockey
Steel protected list, forward Luca Cunti of Switzerland
(Tampa Bay Lightning – 3rd Round, 75th Overall), may be
going directly to NCAA college hockey and does not
appear on the list below at this time.

- 1991, 4 – 1990, 9 – 1989, 8 – 1988, and 1 – 1987.
Seven players on the list currently reside in the
Chicago-land area.

The Steel have also announced their Futures / Affiliates
List heading into this season. These players are
potential players that could play for the Steel up to
six regular season games this upcoming season and/or
join the club for the 2008-2009 USHL season.
The 2007 USHL Futures / Affiliates Draft will take place
in early October.
