Raven Commits to Mercyhurst

Bensenville, IL (August 28th, 2007) -- The Chicago Steel have announced that forward Ryan Raven has committed to the Mercyhurst Lakers (Atlantic Hockey) for the 2007 season.

Raven was acquired in a trade by the Steel in January 2007 from the Omaha Lancers in exchange for a 5th Round pick in the 2007 May USHL Draft. In 31 regular season games with the Steel after being acquired, Raven had a 9-14-23 line and also contributed five points in five playoff games.

Ryan Raven becomes the nineteenth Steel player to commit to a NCAA Division I school from the 2006-2007 team.

"Ryan has five full years of junior hockey experience and should help Mercyhurst immediately," said Steel General Manager Jason Koehler. "We acquired Ryan to add a veteran, top two line forward, and goal scorer to our young team for the second half and he certainly gave us that. He was a solid citizen and player for our young team and we wish him the best in his college hockey career at Mercyhurst.”
