Chicago Keeps
Winning Streak Alive

Bensenville (November
12, 2008)
- The Chicago Steel built up a 5-2 lead,
but held off a Waterloo comeback to win 5-4 at the Edge
Ice Arena in Bensenville.
Dean Chelios, in his first home game with the Steel, got
Chicago on the board 0:34 into the game. He picked up a
rebound off an Andrew Miller (Yale University) shot and
poked it past Waterloo goalie Joe Howe.
Miller extended Chicago's lead during a goal-crease
scrum at 7:41 of the first period. It was his 9th goal
of the season.
Ben Miller got Waterloo back within one fifty seconds
later with a slapshot from the top of the right circle
that eluded Chicago goalie Hudson Stremmel.
Eric Alexander (Ferris State University) regained the
two-goal advantage for Chicago on the power play at the
15:50 mark of the second with his league-leading 10th
goal this year.
Early in the second, Matt Lindblad found Mike Walsh at
the point and his slap shot from the point through a
screen beat Howe's glove side for his fourth of the
season.
Midway through the second period, Chicago's lead was
trimmed in half when Craig Smith scored for Waterloo on
the power play.
With under two minutes left in the second, John Moore
(Colorado College) threaded a pass across the crease to
Greg Wolfe and he lifted a wrist shot high, short side,
past Howe to give the Steel a 5-2 lead heading into the
third.
Early in the third, Waterloo's Brock Montpetit scored to
cut Chicago's lead to two.
The Black Hawks would get within one when Scott Pavelski
beat Stremmel blocker side midway through the third.
That would be as close as the Black Hawks got, as
Stremmel and the Steel shut the door the rest of the way
to earn their third straight win. The win also pushed
Chicago ahead of Waterloo in the East Division
standings.
After two road games this weekend at Omaha and Tri-City,
the Steel will return to the Edge Ice Arena November
21st against the Omaha Lancers at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can
be ordered by calling 630.594.1165.
