- Coming into Saturday night's game
against the Sioux City Musketeers, the Chicago Steel
relied on an offense that averaged 3.625 goals per game,
and just enough defense to win games. That formula
hasn't always gotten the team results, as the team
entered the night 8-7-1 on the year.
But against Sioux City, Hudson
Stremmel led the way, stopping 22 of 23 Musketeer shots
in the Steel's 2-1 win at the Edge Ice Arena.
After a scoreless first period,
Sioux City's Mitch Bruijsten took advantage of a Dean
Chelios minor penalty to open the scoring five minutes
into the second period.
Just over three minutes later, John
Moore (Colorado College) scored his third goal of the
year to tie the game at one.
A minute and a half later, Andrew
Miller (Yale University) took a pass from Philip
Samuelsson and fired a wrist shot off the bottom of the
crossbar and into the goal for his league-lead tying
12th goal of the season. He is tied with his linemate
Eric Alexander (Ferris State University) for the league
lead in goals, and is the league leader in scoring with
29 points, and assists with 17.
Stremmel made that goal hold up,
despite a late Sioux City power play with about three
minutes left in the game. He was named the number 3
star in the game.
After a Wednesday night game at
Green Bay, the Steel return home on Friday, November
28th against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Game time is
7:30 p.m. and tickets can be ordered by calling
