- The
Chicago Steel hit the road for two games this past
weekend, and came home with two wins.
On Friday night, the
Steel traveled to Lincoln to face the Stars, and used
two goals from Greg Wolfe to earn a 5-3 win and put an
end to a three-game losing streak.
Andrew Miller, Eric
Alexander, and Mike Walsh also added goals for Chicago,
and Hudson Stremmel stopped 37 Stars shots to earn the
win in net.
The Steel also got two
assists from Dean Chelios.
The next night, the
Steel visited the Sioux Falls Stampede, and opened up a
quick two-goal lead on goals from Dan Kolomatis and
Wolfe. However, Sioux Falls would tie the game at two
before end of the first 20 minutes.
Andrew Miller would
score the only goal of the second period and give the
Steel a 3-2 lead entering the third period.
But early in the third,
Sioux Falls would take the lead on goals from David Eddy
and Josh Holmstrom. Holmstrom's goal came on a power
play, and put the Stampede ahead with just under 13
minutes left in regulation.
Five minutes later,
Brett Kostolansky tied the game at four for Chicago.
After Greg Wolfe was
sent off for a hooking minor, the Stampede looked to
retake the lead. But just 10 seconds after the Stampede
power play got underway, Eric Alexander scored the
eventual game-winning goal while short-handed for the
Steel.
Miller added an
insurance marker, scoring into an empty net while the
Steel were on a power play with 40 seconds left in the
game.
Stremmel earned his
second straight win, stopping 27 Stampede shots.
The Steel return to the
Edge Ice Arena on Wednesday, November 12 against the
Waterloo Black Hawks. Game time is 7:30 p.m. and
tickets can be ordered by calling the Steel at
