Last
Friday night, the Chicago Steel narrowly lost to the
Indiana Ice. Seven nights later, however, the
Steel made sure this game wouldn't get away, winning
6-3. The loss was the Ice's 2nd at home all year,
and fourth in regulation.
Max Cook would put Indiana on the board
first with a power play goal just under two minutes into
the game.
The Steel responded about two and a half
minutes later on a goal by Max Nicastro (Boston
University, Detroit Red Wings). It was Nicastro's
fourth on the year.
Four minutes later, Indy would re-take
the lead on another power play goal, this time from
Shane Berschbach, but Chicago would close the period
strong, getting goals from Mark Anthoine (University of
Maine) and defenseman Mike Walsh (Air Force Academy)
The Steel expanded on their lead early in
the second with a power play goal from Dean Chelios.
That goal would give Chicago a two-goal lead as they
headed into the third period.
Indiana cut into the lead at the 2:45
mark of the third on Sebastian Geoffrion's goal.
But this time, the Steel would hold off the Ice's
comeback attempt, and extend their lead when Kevin Lind
scored his first of the year at 7:21. Anthoine
netted his second goal of the night, and fourth point,
into an empty net to round out the scoring.
The Steel will return home for
back-to-back games starting tomorrow night against the
Green Bay Gamblers. Saturday night's game will
start at 7:30 p.m. and puck drop for Sunday will be at
3:00 p.m. Tickets to all Steel games can be
