PURE HOCKEY THE MAGAZINE PARTNERS WITH THE CHICAGO STEEL OF THE USHL FOR OPENING NIGHT AT THE EDGE ICE ARENA

Brick, New Jersey (September 22, 2008) – Riptide Media Group, LLC, publishers of Pure Hockey the Magazine, are pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League for their 2008-2009 season as Hockey Partners. Pure Hockey the Magazine will be involved with several game nights throughout the season. 

Chicago Steel will open their 2008-2009 season on Saturday, October 4^th, 2008, against the Sioux City Musketeers at The Edge Ice Arena located in Bensenville, Illinois at 7:30 pm (CST).The first 2,000 fans at the game will receive a free issue of Pure Hockey the Magazine, Volume 08, Issue 2, as they enter the arena. The issue features an interview with Steve Poapst, Head Coach of the Steel, in the Center Ice Section. Additionally, we also have an article in our Health and Nutrition section written by the Steel’s Head Athletic Trainer Brian Oudsteyn, ATC, about your “Game Time” menu and eating habits.

About Chicago Steel, USHL

The Chicago Steel are apart of the United States Hockey League (USHL), which is the Premier Junior A Tier I league in the United States.  All players in the league are between the ages of 16-20, playing with the goal of earning a Division I Hockey scholarship and to be scouted by NHL teams and affiliates.  

The Steel are in their 9^th season, with Head Coach and Former NHL’er Steve Poapst behind the bench.  Joining coach Poapst on the bench is Jon Waibel, member of 2 NCAA championship teams.  Players on the Steel commit to the highest ranked hockey programs in the nation such as Miami of Ohio, Notre Dame, and Colorado College.  Many Steel alumni can also be found currently playing at the professional level.
