Anthoine
Leads Steel To Win Over The Bucs
Bensenville (January 17th,
2009)
-- The Chicago
Steel fell behind early on the road for the second
straight night, but they left Des Moines with a 4-3
come-from-behind victory with the help of a two-goal
effort from forward Mark Anthoine (University of Maine).
Chris Knowlton put the Buccaneers
up just under three minutes into the game, but Chicago
tied the game five and a half minutes later on a goal
from Rob Linsmayer.
The Steel took their first lead of
the night on Anthoine's first goal on the evening at the
11:28 mark, and Chicago would hold that lead until Alex
Chaisson evened things at two early in the second
period.
Eight minutes later, Armand
Deswardt (Cornell College) put the Steel back in front.
It was the first ever USHL goal for the Plano, TX
native.
The Buccaneers tied the game on a
power play just 14 seconds into the third period, on
Chaisson's second marker of the game.
Not to be outdone, Anthoine netted
the game-winner with just under nine minutes remaining
in the game.
Martin Ausserhofer stopped 20
Buccaneer shots to earn his first-ever USHL victory in
goal.
The Steel return home next Friday
night when they host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at
7:30 p.m. Tickets for all Steel home games can be
ordered by calling the Steel Box Office at 630.594.1165. |
