Steel Split Weekend
Bensenville, IL (October 11th, 2009) -
After enjoying another victory and
extending their winning streak to three, the Chicago
Steel hoped to make it four on Sunday afternoon. The
Youngstown Phantoms had a different idea though, and
they were the first to get on the scoreboard. With the
score 2-0 in favor of Youngstown, Patrick Raley took a
pass from Andrei Kuchin and shot the puck through two
Phantom defenders finding the back of the net. The
Steel were able to add another goal on the powerplay
when Greg Wolfe was the recipient of great puck movement
from Jamie Oleksiak and Alexander Krushelnyski. The
Steel were able to take the lead into the 2nd
intermission when Alex Carpenter was able to tip in a
pass from Sahir Gill, and they held that lead for nearly
20 minutes until the Phantoms were able to get three
unanswered goals giving them the 5-3 victory, ending the
Steel unbeaten streak.
The Steel are back at home on October
30th when they take on the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
