Chicago Hits Bump In Road

Bensenville, IL (October 22nd, 2009) -
Chicago
entered their current road trip in a tie with Cedar
Rapids atop the Eastern Division standings.
With Cedar Rapids idle Thursday night it was possible
for the Steel to jump the RoughRiders in the standings
heading into their game with the Omaha Lancers.
Omaha Forward Seth Ambroz gave the Lancers the lead with
10:21 to play in the first.
But before the Omaha Civic Center crowd of just fewer
than 2,000 fans could regain their seat, Chicago Steel
forward Alex Krushelnyski tied it up at one apiece. The
goal was Alex’s second on the season and the only to be
allowed by Omaha goalie Jeff Taglia who finished with a
stat line of 25 saves on 26 chances.
Lancers Dakota Eveland and Ryan Daughterty (PP) each
scored to close out the period, Omaha over Chicago 3-1.
Penalties seemed to dictate the game the rest of the
way. Chicago up to this point had scored a power play
goal in each of its first five games but against Omaha
went 0-4.
Omaha’s Daughterty opened the second period when his
swift strike, his second of the game, made it 4-1
Lancers.
16 minutes worth of penalties against Chicago left the
Steel shorthanded throughout the third period as Omaha
forward Anthony Hamburg netted his first goal of the
year extending the Lancer lead to 5-1.
In all, Chicago served 22 minutes on 11 penalties.
Chicago
(4-2) now heads to Lincoln to take on a Stars squad
(3-3) that’s been outscored 20-16 this season. Game time
is set for 7:05 this Friday night. |
