Struggles On The Road
Bensenville, IL (November 27th, 2009) - The Chicago Steel’s road losing streak extends to six, following a 2-1 overtime loss to Green Bay on Wednesday.

The Steel, winners of just three of their last ten, have been snake bitten during overtime this year, dropping all three opportunities in the ’09-10 campaign thus far.

In the first period, Steel defenseman Kevin Lind was whistled for tripping. While on the power play Green Bay’s David Makowski found the net off the pass from Reed Seckel. For Makowski, the goal was his sixth of the year.

After one period of play Green Bay led 1-0.

Chicago managed its best offensive effort in the second, recording 15 shots against Green Bay Goalie Steve Summerhays. With under two minutes to play in the period Alex Krushelnyski (Colorado College) knotted the score one all with his sixth goal of the season. The assist was credited to Sahir Gill (Boston University), his 15th.

Strong defense prevailed for both sides in the third period with Chicago holding the Gamblers to nine shots on goal, while Chicago could muster only three.

Chicago outshot Green Bay for the game, 28-25, but in OT Robert Francis nabbed his second game winner of the season, sending Chicago to its sixth consecutive loss away from the Edge Ice Arena.

Chicago (9-6-3) now plays host to Team USA November 27 before a rematch with Green Bay this Saturday November 28th.
