The
Chicago Steel made the ten hour, 628 mile trip from the
Edge Ice Arena to Fargo, North Dakota this week.
The Steel are (3-2) in their last 5 games and (7-3)
overall.
On the other side, Fargo (3-2) in their last five and
(4-5) overall hoped to gain at least a split with the
Steel at the Urban Plains Center.
Chicago
couldn’t get it going on offense, however, managing only
twelve shots on goal while Fargo created 35
opportunities and made it count when it mattered most.
After an interference call on Steel Defenseman Zack Rall,
five minutes into the second period, Force Forward Chad
Demers had the extra room he would need to record his
second goal of the year, 1-0 Fargo at that point.
Corey Leivermann extended the lead out to 2-0 almost two
minutes later on a brisk pass from Forward Alex
Lippincott.
In the third, Chicago’s Andrei Kuchin went to the
penalty box for hooking. Fargo took advantage of yet
another power play opportunity when Forward Nate Condon
found the back of the net four minutes into the period
to build a 3-0 lead.
Fargo’s third power play goal came with two and a half
minutes to go after Corey Leivermann picked up his
second goal of the contest.
Chicago
managed to get on the board with an unassisted goal from
Mark Adams (Providence College), eighteen minutes into
the third period for a final score of 4-1.
Chicago
remains in Fargo for game two this Saturday November 7th. |
