Steel Looking To Heat Up
Bensenville, IL (December 11th, 2009) -
As the weather has gotten colder, the Steel have been
as well. The team began the season with 7 wins in
October before dropping to three wins in November. It’s
now December and the team is looking for its first win
this month (0-2-1).
The Steel, overall, were (10-9-3) heading into their
matchup with the Sioux City Musketeers (9-10-1) Friday
night. In their last ten games, Chicago and Sioux City
appear headed in opposite directions where Chicago has
managed only two wins in that time while Sioux City has
risen from the mat to reel off seven wins in its last
ten.
In the first period Sioux City helped its own cause with
a power play goal by Stephan Vigier after Steel Forward
Andrei Kuchin was whistled for interference.
Going into the first intermission, the Steel trailed
1-0. On the season, the Steel were (3-4-1) after
trailing through one period of play.
Chicago
opened the second period with two goals by Forward
Andrei Kuchin off excellent passing from Mark Anthoine
(Maine). The flurry of goals by Kuchin gives him five
goals and seven assists in his last ten games.
After two periods Chicago led 2-1.
Sioux City’s
Richard Zehnal brought the Musketeers even with an
unassisted goal to open the third period. Both team’s
defenses stood tall for the remainder of the third,
leaving the score tied two apiece at the end of
regulation.
Over time wins have been elusive this season for Chicago
who’s dropped all three opportunities. Each team would
muster only one shot on goal but Sioux City made theirs
count. Forward Ryan Rashid put the deke on Steel Goalie
Connor Wilson leaving Wilson prone and the top shelf
open for the game winner.
Chicago
(10-9-4) will now look to get one back against Fargo who
swept the Steel in a two game series back in early
November.
The game between Chicago and Fargo is scheduled to start
at 7:30 this Saturday December 12. Tickets can be
purchased by calling (630) 594-1165. |
