Stremmel's 42
Save Effort Not Enough To Top Bucs

After last Tuesday's 6-0
thrashing of the Des Moines Buccaneers, the Chicago
Steel headed to Des Moines for the rematch Friday night,
and much like Tuesday's tilt, both netminders saw plenty
of rubber. Chicago's Hudson Stremmel stopped 42 of the
Bucs 44 shots, but Des Moines' Michael Houser one-upped
Stremmel, also stopping 42 shots in helping the Bucs top
the Steel 2-1.
Neither side lit the lamp in the opening 20 minutes, but
Des Moines took the lead just under halfway through the
second when Brett Skalski solved Stremmel. He picked up
the rebound of a Colin Haas breakaway attempt to put the
home side on the board.
Two
and a half minutes later, Mark Goggin (Dartmouth
University, Boston Bruins) evened the score, with
assists from Dean Chelios (Michigan State University)
and Philip Samuelsson (Boston College).
Early in the third, Mike Fink potted the only goal of
the third, which proved to be the game winner.
The
Steel visit Indiana Saturday night, and will be home
next on Tuesday, March 31st for the make-up game against
the Waterloo Black Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be
ordered by calling the Steel Ticket Office at
