Chicago Put On Ice In Indy
Story By: Steve Jankowski

Bensenville (March 28th, 2009) -- The Chicago Steel and Indiana Ice traded goals in each of the first two periods, but the Ice never trailed, taking a 5-3 decision from the Steel in Indianapolis Saturday night.

Will MacDonald got the Ice on the board early, scoring 3:17 into the contest, but the Steel responded quickly, as Greg Wolfe struck back 24 seconds later to tie the game at one.

The tie lasted just over 4 minutes, as Sebastian Geoffrion scored to give the hosts the lead for the second time on the night.

Halfway through the second, Indy took their first two-goal advantage on Shane Bershbach's first of two goals on the evening.

Josh Balch (Yale University) struck back 3 minutes later to bring Chicago back within one, but Stanislav Galiev re-established Indy's two-goal margin four minutes after Balch's marker.

Berschbach's 2nd goal of the night halfway through the third period put Indiana up three, and sealed the win for the Ice.

Balch finished the scoring with his second of the night, and 22nd of the year with just under five minutes remaining.

The Steel will return to the Edge Ice Arena Tuesday night for a make-up game against the Waterloo Black Hawks.  Game time is 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be ordered by calling the Steel Ticket Office at 630.594.1165.
