Fargo Scores
Early and Often In Victory Over Steel
Story By: Steve Jankowski
Bensenville (March 6th,
2009)
-- After
posting a sterling 8-1 record in the month of February,
the Chicago Steel traveled to Fargo hoping to keep their
winning ways going into March. Unfortunately for
Chicago, the Force proved to be rude hosts, scoring in
the game's first minute and never looking back in an 8-1
victory over the Steel Friday night.
Josh Birkholz scored the first of his four goals on the
night 54 seconds into the game to put the Force out
front.
Halfway through the first, Fargo's Colten St. Clair and
Birkholz scored twice in just under two minutes to push
the advantage to three.
Birkholz scored two more goals in a minute and a half
stretch midway through the second to put the game out of
reach.
Josh Balch (Yale University) scored Chicago's lone goal
with just over five minutes left in the game to foil
Cody Campbell's shutout bid for the Force.
The
same two teams will lock horns Saturday night in Fargo.
The Steel will return to home ice on Friday, March 13th
for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with the Omaha Lancers. Tickets
for all Steel home games can be ordered by calling the
Steel Box Office at 630.594.1165. |
