Like older brother Dean, forward Jake Chelios has also
found a home with the Chicago Steel upon his selection
for the 2009-2010 season.
Just as Dean Chelios finishes his
career with the Chicago Steel, brother Jake becomes one
of its newest members. Dean found success with the Steel
this past season and finished with impressive statistics
including 19 goals and 34 assists, which no doubt
contributed to his recruitment by the Michigan State
University hockey team this past spring.
In addition to having a Steel alum
as a brother, Jake is son to current Detroit Redwing and
former Chicago Blackhawk, Chris Chelios, who recently
completed his 26th season in the NHL.
Jake brings with him his own
success, such as two USA National Hockey Championships
with the Little Caesars AAA Hockey League in 2008 and
2004. Jake was invited to the 2009 selection camp, and
after a week of tryouts, the Bloomfield, Michigan native
was among 14 new and 8 returning players selected for
the upcoming season.
Despite his well known last name,
Jake, as well as his fellow teammates, will have the
ability to create their own image and reputation as the
Steel begins their 2009-2010 season Friday October 3,
2009 against Team USA, with home games held at The Edge
Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois. For ticket and
