Chicago Opens Up At Home October 3rd vs Team USA

Bensenville, IL (September 18, 2009) - The
Chicago Steel will kick off their 2009-2010 regularly
scheduled season Saturday October 3rd, facing Team USA
U17 at 7:35 pm at the Edge Ice Arena. The final in a
weekend series, Saturday night's game follows a meeting
between the two teams held the previous night at Team
USA's home rink in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Although the October 3rd game marks the beginning of
their new season, the Steel have been playing and
practicing together since early September, including six
preseason games and participating in the 2009 Fall
Classic Tournament in Sioux City, IA. With a month of
practice under their belts, coach Steve Poapst and
assistant coach Jon Waibel will lead the new squad of
14 new and 8 returning players into regular season play.
To celebrate their season opener, the first 500 fans
will receive a free magnetic schedule of the Steel’s
2009-2010 season. In addition, The Edge will host a
“Skate with the Steel” night, where fans are invited to
meet and skate with current Steel players after the
October 3rd game.
The Steel begins its 2009-2010 season on Saturday
October 3, 2009 against Team USA, with home games held
at The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois. For
