Bensenville, IL (September 4, 2009) -Former
Chicago Steel forward Ryan Schnell will be heading to
Pittsburgh this fall to participate in the Penguins 2009
Rookie Camp. The Cary, IL native signed an ATO with the
2009 Stanley Cup Champions to participate in the camp
held September 4th-11th.
Schnell started his junior hockey
career in 2005 with Team USA. After staying in the NAHL
for two years, Schnell joined the Chicago Steel for the
2007-2008 season. The 6’3” force recorded 13 points
(4-9-13) during the regular season and added an assist
during Chicago’s post season playoff run. Schnell
continued on with the Steel in the fall of 2008 before
transferring midseason to the Saginaw Spirits in early
2009.
Upon embarking on this next step in
his career, Schnell shares " I am really excited and
eager to attend the Penguins Rookie Camp. Playing for
the Steel in the USHL helped to develop me as an athlete
and gain interest from a handful of NHL teams. Coach
Steve Poapst, and everyone involved with the Steel,
helped me to become an effective player during the time
I played for them. Chicago was a big stepping stone for
me to move onto the OHL, and now have an opportunity to
hopefully make a pro team and reach my goals." |
