First Period Proves To Be Too Much For Steel
(October 29th, 2011) - The Chicago Steel have fallen
behind by two goals in the first period in the past two
games, but against the Muskegon on Saturday evening, two
goals were too much to overcome as the Lumberjacks
skated to a 5-1 victory over Chicago at L.C. Walker
Arena.
Against Team USA Friday evening and versus the
Lumberjacks a week ago, the Steel fell behind 2-0 in the
first, but prevailed two-straight wins. Aidan Cavallini
cut the Muskegon lead in half, 2-1, at 1:55 in the
second period, but Dakota Klecha added his second goal
of the game seven minutes later and Muskegon put up
three goals in the second period to pull away 5-1.
For Cavallini, it was his first goal of the season,
while Jimmy DeVito registered the assist for his seventh
point (1g, 6a) in 2011-12.
Alex Sakellaropoulos started in place of Mathias
Dahlstrom and made 27 saves. Sakellaropoulos was
relieved by Adam Miller with five minutes left in the
second stanza. Miller stopped 11-of-12 shots against
Muskegon.
The Steel are back at home on Friday, Nov. 18 to take on
the Youngstown Phantoms at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be
