Four 2nd Period Goals Secures Win
(October 8th, 2011) - Zach Saar notched two goals
and Michael Fallon added a goal and an assist for
Chicago in its, 6-3, victory over the Muskegon
Lumberjacks at the Edge Ice Arena on Saturday.
Saar scored his two goals five minutes apart in the
second period, while Fallon capped off the victory in
the third stanza with a slap shot that beat Muskegon
goalie Blake Voth stick side.
Bo Pieper put the Steel up 1-0 with a goal at 4:15 into
the game. Christian Heil tallied the assist on Pieper’s
score.
Muskegon grabbed a 2-1 lead early in the second, with
goals coming from Ryan Bullock and Mike Moran. However,
three straight goals, Saar’s two and one from Theo
DiPauli, put Chicago back in front 4-2.
The Steel (2-1-0) never looked back after taking the
lead in third and cruised to the three-goal victory.
Christian Heil, Phillip Marinaccio, Ryan Trenz and Jimmy
DeVito all added assists for Chicago.
Mathias Dahlstrom made 30 saves for the Steel for his
second win of the season. Both teams fired off 30 shots
in the game.
The Steel are on the road next weekend to take on
Lincoln on Friday and then head to Kearney, Neb. on
Saturday to face the Tri-City Storm. Puck drop for both
games is 7:05 p.m.
