Miller Stops 43, But Steel Come Up Short
(November 6th, 2011) - An evening after Omaha took
out Dubuque in overtime to snap the Fighting Saints'
seven-game winning streak, the Lancers' Max Vallis
scored three goals on Sunday as Omaha overcame an early
2-0 deficit to defeat the Chicago Steel 4-2 at the Omaha
Civic Auditorium.
Christian Neumman and Daniel Kucerovy opened up the
scoring for Chicago, giving the Steel an early 2-0
advantage with 13 minutes, 42 seconds left in the first.
Canon Pieper assisted on Neumann's goal, while Christian
Heil and Kyle Buffardi helped on Kucerovy's goal.
From that point on, Omaha scored four unanswered goals,
including Vallis’ empty net goal with five seconds left
in the game.
Adam Miller started in goal for Chicago and stopped 43
shots in his first start of the season. Thatcher Demko
maded 26 saves in the win for Omaha. The Lancers outshot
the Steel 47-28 in the game.
Chicago will be on the road next weekend against
Waterloo and Green Bay, before coming back to the Edge
for a seven-game home stand.
