Jimmy DeVito Commits To RPI
(January 10th, 2012) - The Chicago Steel are proud
to announce that forward Jimmy DeVito has committed to
play hockey for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
DeVito, who hails from Bloomingdale, Ill., has tallied
13 points (3g, 10a) in 28 games this season.
This is his second season with the Steel after playing
in 45 games and registering two goals and five assists
in 2010-11.
"RPI offered me just before Christmas," DeVito said. "I
took a visit to the campus about a month ago and really
liked the facilities and the coaching staff. I am
thinking about majoring in business right now and they
have a very good business school.
"My Family was happy for me when I committed and will be
making trips out to New York to watch me play. My dad
really liked RPI as well and was impressed with its
coaching staff."
Located in Troy, NY, RPI has been playing hockey since
1901 and is one of the oldest college hockey programs in
the nation. The Engineers have won two NCAA National
Championships (1954,1985), have made five NCAA Frozen
Four appearances (1953, 1954, 1961, 1964, 1985) and have
qualified for the NCAA Tournament 10 times, most
recently in 2011.
"Coach Appert said I was a good fit for his program and
am the type of player that can help them win," DeVito
said. "RPI has a great hockey tradition and to get to
play for the Engineers is going to be an honor ."
