Stanley Cup Champion to meet fans at annual Chicago Blackhawks Night

GENEVA, ILLINOIS — The Chicago Steel announced that former Chicago Blackhawks forward and Stanley Cup Champion Ben Eager will appear at the Steel’s annual Chicago Blackhawks Night on Saturday, Feb. 3. The Steel, 2017 USHL Clark Cup Champions, will face the Youngstown Phantoms at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m., with doors opening at 6:00 p.m.

Eager, who was part of the Blackhawks’ 2010 Stanley Cup Championship team, will sign autographs and take pictures with fans during the game, while also dropping the ceremonial first puck. Also scheduled to appear are Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk and the Blackhawks Ice Crew. Fans will also be able to take the ice for a post-game Skate with the Steel.

“For the third year in a row, we are proud to partner with the Blackhawks for this fan-favorite event,” said Steel President Dan Lehv. “We’re thrilled to welcome Ben Eager as our special guest. We know the anticipation is already building for February 3.”

The Ottawa, Ont., native spent 11 years in professional hockey, including 407 NHL regular season games split between the Philadelphia Flyers, Blackhawks, Atlanta Thrashers, San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers. He won an American Hockey League Calder Cup Championship with the Philadelphia Phantoms in 2005, and completed his career locally in 2014-2015 with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.

Chicago Blackhawks Night has become one of the most popular nights on the Steel’s annual promotional schedule, with past guests including alumni Dan Carcillo and Jamal Mayers, as well as anthem singer Jim Cornelison.

In addition to Eager’s appearance, Chicago Blackhawks Night will feature a variety of Blackhawks-themed promotions for fans in attendance, including contests on and off the ice, the Blackhawks’ goal song (“Chelsea Dagger” by The Fratellis), special videos and more.

Fans can either bring their own skates for the post-game Skate with the Steel or rent them from the Fox Valley Ice Arena for $4 per pair.

Tickets to all Steel home games, including Chicago Blackhawks Night, start at just $10 when purchased in advance and parking is always free at Fox Valley Ice Arena. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 855-51-STEEL, stop by the Box Office at Fox Valley Ice Arena or click here.
