HOUSING PARENT

Become a Housing Parent

The Chicago Steel USHL hockey club is always looking for possible housing families for the current and upcoming season.

The Steel players are amateur players and do not get paid. They are elite level players aged 16-20 that are focused on playing at the NCAA Division I college level and at the professional level. Over 100 USHL players per season receive college hockey scholarships due to the respect and notoriety of the league and its players. Each year, a number of USHL players are also selected at the NHL Entry Draft in June. The USHL is highest level of amateur hockey in the United States.

Steel players make excellent role models for young hockey players aspiring to play at higher levels. Steel players are outstanding student athletes and recent players have committed to such schools as Miami (OH), Harvard, Princeton, Notre Dame, Boston University, Western Michigan, Quinnipiac, Michigan State, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

The USHL season will see Steel players arrive in Chicago in late August with the regular season ending in mid April and playoffs concluding in May.
The Chicago Steel will pay local families $225.00 per month for housing a player as well as season tickets for each family member in the household. The family also gets the benefit of building a relationship with a young man attempting reach his goals and dreams in sports and education.

Host families are expected to treat players as one of their own while providing a bed/room and meals to the player. Players are to have their own transportation and spending money. The Steel have team rules in place for all players and these rules are to be combined with internal family rules set by the host parents.

The Steel are looking for comfortable housing situations for our players with families that demonstrate a well balanced family-oriented life style. We would like families within a reasonable travel distance from our home -- the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, IL. We also wish that the host families help support the Chicago Steel and its players.
