RUSTY'S STEEL WORKER OF THE WEEK
The winner
for the week is the holder of the Sledge Hammer until a
new winner is announced. The coaches make the decision
on who deserves the award based on performance and
contribution to the team success during the games that
week.
Week 1 - (November 5th - 11th)
Mark
Anthoine -- Forward
Mark
stepped up his play and help his line be a big success
in a Shoot-out loss to Sioux City and a 6-2 win against
Sioux Falls on the road. Mark efforts saw him score 4
goals and 2 assists on the weekend.
Week 2 - (November 12th - 18th)
Andy
Miele -- Forward
Andy had a great
weekend against Omaha in a 2 game homestand. Andy was
the only player to beat Omaha goalie Drew Palmisano in
both shoot-out losses. Not only was he the only player
to score the goals in regulation, Andy scored both
nights in the shoot-out as well.
Week 3 - (November 19th - 25th)
Eric
Alexander -- Forward
Eric has been showing
improvement throughout the year and had a breakout
week in a three game stretch which he scored 4 goals
including a hat-trick in the 10-3 victory over
Indiana. He has a natural scoring touch and is now
working to get those opportunities in every game.
Week 4 - (November 26th - December
2nd)
Will
Weber -- Defense
Will was a force on the
blueline for the Steel this past weekend in wins over
Lincoln and Sioux Falls. He did not give up on any of
his shifts while logging big time minutes. Simply put,
he is a warrior. Other Steel notables were Brian Dowd
and Simon Olsson who each had 5 points on the weekend
Week 5 - (December 10th - December
16th)

Corey Chakeen -- Forward Corey,
after a tough start to his season has steadily
improved his game each week and is starting to
do the little things on a consistent basis that
makes the team and himself successful. This was
his best week of the year and we expect to see
the same continued effort and progress the rest
of the season.
Week 6 - (December 24th - December
30th)
Aaron
Schmit -- Defense Aaron was consistent and
steady throughout the last three games while being a
physical presence on the blueline. His strong play was
evident at crucial times during the games and was
rewarded with his first goal in the USHL against Green
Bay
Week 7 - (December 31st - January
6th)

Ryan Schnell -- Forward
Ryan had a
strong week using his size and physical presence to be
effective contributor to the success and current streak
the team in on. His strong play has resulted in
creating scoring chances for his linemates as well as
himself as he scored his second goal of the season in a
4-2 win over Ohio.
Week 8 -
(January 7th - 13th)
Drew LeBlanc -- Forward
Drew has
stepped up his game to a new level and has become an
offensive leader for the Steel over the past few weeks.
Drew is currently on a four game goal scoring streak and
has 9 points in the last 7 games. He has been a
key factor in the success that his line is seeing right
now.
Week 9 -
(January 14th - 20th)
Rob
Madore -- Goaltender
Rob has come back from the break very
strong and has posted 6 wins in a row to push his record
to 11-10-3. His performance in back to back wins
against Cedar Rapids earned him the Steel Worker of The
Week Award.
Week 10 -
(January 21st - 27th)
Mike Walsh -- Defense
Mike's
leadership and consistent steady physical play has
earned him this week's Steel Worker award. He has been
playing with great confidence and has been the first to
be there for his teammates when necessary. He also had
the game winning goal against Green Bay.
Week 10 -
(January 28th - February 3rd)
Rob
Madore -- Goaltender
Rob
Madore is the Steel Worker of The Week for his
performance against Indiana over the weekend. He was
our best player against a highly skilled group of
forwards and made several spectacular saves in both
games.
Week 11 -
(February 4th - February 10th)
Nick Pisellini -- Goaltender

Nick earns
this weeks Steel Hammer for his solid play in relief
against Omaha and his victory over Sioux City this past
weekend. Nick stopped all 14 shots faced against Omaha
and 43 of 46 against Sioux City in the 6-3 win.
Week 12 -
(February 11th - February 17th)
Dominic Morrone -- Forward
Dominic
is this week's winner for his effort and performance in
Saturday's game against Sioux City. After sitting out
Friday's contest, Dominic had a goal and an assist and
was instrumental in the Steel's comeback from a 3-1
deficit to help the team earn a point in the 4-3
overtime loss.
Week 13 -
(February 18th - February 24th)
Simon Olsson -- Forward
Simon
is this week's Chicago Steel worker. His game has
finally returned to level that we saw last season and
allowed him to be an effective player on a nightly
basis. He has had 3 points in his last two games and
factored on both goals in a 2-1 win over Tri-City on
Saturday.
Week 14 and
15 -
(February 25th - March 9th)
Andrew Miller -- Forward
Although
the Steel have not been successful as of late, Andrew
has been the most consistent player on the Steel roster
the past two weeks. He brings a consistent effort each
night and plays the level we expect of him. He has
become one of the players that can be relied on to
perform each night in all situations.
Week 16 -
(March 16th - March 22nd)
Tim Buttery -- Defense

Tim is the
Steel worker of the week. Tim has been one of the
most reliable and dependable guys back on defense, and
last week he registered 6 points (3 goals and 3 assists)
in 4 games. Tim was also named the USHL defensive
player of the week.
Week 17 -
(April 10th - April 18th; 1st Round of Playoffs)
John Moore -- Defense
Brian O'Neill -- Forward
Rob Madore -- Goaltender

John Moore, Brian O'Neill and Rob Madore have been
selected as the Steel Workers of the Week, for their
exceptional play in the first round of playoffs against
the Indiana Ice. Moore was solid on defense in
every situation that he was put into, and contributed on
the scoreboard with an assist. Brian O'Neill was a
true warrior and did not back down from anybody and paid
the price on every shift that the coaches asked him to.
Brian had 2 goals and 2 assists in the series. Rob
Madore was outstanding in net, playing all 4 games.
Madore had 144 saves with a .935 save percentage, which
included the 5-0 shutout to clinch the series.
