HOCKEY OPERATIONS STAFF
Scott McConnell --
Head Coach/General Manager
ScottMcConnell
is in his first season with the Chicago Steel. Prior to this position he was with the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins as video coach. He will
also serve as the video coordinator for Team USA in the
2010 World Junior Championships in Buffalo New York over
christmas. McConnell brings
a great amount of knowledge to the job. He spent two
seasons playing in the USHL with Fargo-Moorhead and
Cedar Rapids. He also spent three seasons with the
Indiana Ice and Des Moines Buccaneers as Associate Head
Coach.
Past coaching jobs also include Assistant Head
Coach for the Billings Bulls of the (NAHL) and a stint
as Associate Head Coach of the Bay City Bombers (WSHL).
After his USHL playing career, Scott was a four year
member of the University of Denver Hockey team and
helped the team win the 2004 NCAA National Championship.
The Madison, WI native was born into a hockey rich
family. His Grandfather "Badger" Bob Johnson coached 3
NCAA Championships teams with the Wisconsin Badgers in
the 70's. He coached the 1976 U.S. Olympic team and was
the Head Coach of the 1991 Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley
Cup Championship team.
RJ Enga --Assistant Coach
In Coach Enga's playing days
at Colorado College, he earned a spot on the All-WCHA
Academic Team as a junior in 1993-94, when he helped the
Tigers win their first of three consecutive
regular-season championships. He also received honorable
mention in the all-league voting that season. He missed
only one of a possible 159 games while at Colorado
College and is a member of the Century Club players with
100 career points or more. Enga graduated in 1995 with a
degree in International Political Economics.
A veteran of the United States Select-17 and -18
programs before enrolling at CC, he skated for Team USA
at Finland's Tampere Cup competition in August 1994.
CoachEnga went on to play
professionally in both North America and Europe and was
drafted in 1990 by the New York Islanders. He retired
after the 2002-2003 campaign, which he finished with the
San Diego Gulls of the East Coast Hockey League. He
earlier spent four seasons with the Colorado Springs
Gold Kings and a year playing pro in Germany.

Steven Bagus - Head
Athletic Trainer
Steve Bagus is originally from
Oak Lawn,
Illinois, and received his Bachelor of Science
in Athletic Training in 2008 from
Illinois
State
University.
Upon graduation he accepted a position with
AthletiCo and served as Head Athletic Trainer at
Alonzo
Amos Stagg
High School in Palos Heights.
In 2009 he was named Assistant Athletic Trainer
at Mt.
Carmel
High School on Chicago's southside and served as the Head
Athletic Trainer for the Chicago Griffins Rugby Club.
While in his current role, Steve had an
opportunity to work with the United States Soccer
Federation’s Under 14 Men's National Team in
Bradenton Florida
and the Under-18's Men National Team in
Lisbon,
Portugal.
Steve was also a high school hockey player in his
youth, capping his career as a forward at Brother Rice
High School in 2004.
Will Haskell -- Strength and
Conditioning Coach
Will Haskell, YCS Lev. II, ACE, is a PREMIER
STRENGTH AND MOVEMENT INSTRUCTOR, recognized NATIONALLY
for his work in the youth development industry. A
well-spoken leader and educator, Will's passion for
providing educational seminars for parents and coaches
has earned him considerable attention as a frequently
sought after resource to help spur changes in the
current youth sports system in the U.S.
As a former NCAA Division 1 basketball and baseball
player, Will sustained serious, career-ending injuries
as a result of improper strength and conditioning
methods. Those struggles developed his strong desire to
educate coaches, parents, and athletes on the foundation
of youth athletic development so that young athletes may
succeed, uninhibited by injury.
Since Will's emergence into the youth development field
in 2003, Will has developed thousands of athletes,
presented numerous community service lectures, a
television appearance, and has published over a dozen
articles on topics pertaining to youth development and
the culture of youth sports. Will also serves as an
informational resource for Baseballstrength.com,
JPFitness.com, and Winning Hoops as a youth development
expert. Will has also co-authored two best-selling
products; Baseball Training Systems and Go Basketball
Pro.
Will currently serves as the primary Performance
Enhancement Specialist for the AthletiCo Sports
Performance Center at the McCook Athletic & Exposition
Center (MAX). Will previously served as a strength coach
for the Chicago Sky (WNBA), and was the Director of
Athletic Development for the Sports Academy Northwest.
Dr. Bruce Klein -- Team
Chiropractor
Dr. Bruce M. Klein, DC, MS, ATC is a 1987 graduate of
the University of Toledo where he held a dual major in
Athletic Training and Sports Medicine. He spent four
years working on the sports medicine staff and in his
senior year was the first student ever to be named Head
Student Athletic Trainer. In 1988-89 Dr. Klein worked as
a trainer with the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Club. He
left the Pirates to work as an assistant trainer at
Miami University (Ohio) where he completed a 2 year
Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology program in 9
months in 1991. Dr. Klein is a 2005 graduate of National
University of Health Science's Doctor of Chiropractic
Medicine program where he also obtained his third
bachelors degree in Human Biology. Dr. Klein was
recognized as one of the schools leaders when he was
named to Who’s Who among American Universities and
Colleges in 2004. Dr. Klein brings over 25 years of
health care experience to the sports medicine staff of
the Chicago Steel.
Max Giese -- Director of Player
Personnel
Max Giese enters his second
year as the Chicago Steel's Director of Player
Personnel. Giese is responsible for scouting and
recruiting players for the USHL Entry and Future Drafts
and trades. Prior to joining the Steel, Giese served in
the same capacity with the Janesville Jets of the North
American Hockey League and was an area scout for the NHL
scouting service Red Line Report. Giese played four
years of varsity hockey with Craig High School in
Janesville, Wisconsin.

Guy LeBlanc -- Minnesota
Northern Region Scout
Guy LeBlanc (47) will
scout for the Steel in the Northern Minnesota Region.
His credentials span from coaching mini-mites through
U18 Major Midget. Since 2004, Guy has been coach and
general manager of the U18 Duluth Northern Wings. He is
also currently president of the Northern Wings AAA
Hockey Club. Prior to running the Northern Wings, Guy
has been a head hockey coach in the Minnesota State High
School League for 11 years. As a head coach, he won
section coach of the year honors twice, and as an
assistant, was awarded assistant coach of the year two
times as well. Furthermore, Guy is coordinator and
director of Quick Hands Hockey Camp in Duluth, Minnesota
from 2000-to the present.
As a player, Guy played his college hockey at The
College of St. Scholastica from 1980 to 1984, which is
located in Duluth, Minnesota. In addition, he was a
Division III All American in 1982 and honorable mention
in 1983.
LeBlanc has 3 sons: Drew 20, playing Division I hockey
at St. Cloud State, Brian 16 and Jack 11 The LeBlanc’s
currently reside on Island Lake in Hermantown,
Minnesota.
