First-place Steel host Youngstown Phantoms on Friday and Waterloo Black Hawks on Saturday

GENEVA, ILLINOIS — Fresh off a pair of wins last weekend, the Chicago Steel return home to open up a busy November with back-to-back games this Friday and Saturday night including exciting promotions, a special ticket offer for families and the first opportunity to Skate with the Steel this season.

Chicago ends the month of October alone atop the USHL league standings with a 7-2-1-0 mark (15 pts) through 10 games played. This weekend, the defending Eastern Conference Champions will play host to the Youngstown Phantoms and Waterloo Black Hawks on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2, respectively.

Fans get another opportunity to show off their Halloween costumes with Second Chance Halloween at Friday’s game against Youngstown. The promotion includes a candy exchange where kids have the opportunity to swap Halloween candy with each other, securing the sweet treats they didn’t get enough of while trick-or-treating.

Saturday Nov. 2, the Waterloo Black Hawks come to town for The Simpsons on Ice, presented by The Entrepreneur’s Source. The game includes celebrations of the iconic cartoon’s 30th anniversary with videos throughout the night and even a ‘Duff and Donuts’ eating contest during the game.

Saturday’s matchup is the first of six Topgolf Family Pack games for the season, a deal that offers four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, four chuck-a-pucks plus four Topgolf seat cushions and four $10 Topgolf play cards starting at just $48.  Fans are encouraged to purchase the package in advance as the ticket special is not available on the day of the game.

Following Saturday’s contest, fans are invited to the first of five Skate with the Steel games of the season, a chance for fans to take the ice with their favorite Steel players.

Friday’s game marks the third of six matchups this season between the Steel and the Phantoms.  Chicago recently swept a pair of games in Youngstown Oct. 13 and 14.  The Phantom’s top scorer, Trevor Kuntar, shares the league lead with 15 points (8G, 7A) through 10 outings this season, including a goal and two helpers over two games against the Steel on Oct. 13-14.

Waterloo boasts the Western Conference’s highest win total with a 7-1-0-0 mark during the 2019-20 campaign. The Black Hawks lead the league with the fewest goals allowed this season, just 12 markers against in 8 contests. Netminder Logan Stein is responsible for two shutouts, the most among goaltenders so far this year.

The Steel secured a sweep of a two-game set against the Fargo Force last weekend, winning 3-1 on Friday and 7-4 on Saturday.

Defenseman Owen Power and goaltender Victor Ostman were named USHL Players of the Week for their respective positions on Tuesday. Power recorded two goals over the weekend sweep of the Force and Ostman registered two wins, allowing just one goal on 47 shots over 92 minutes of action against Fargo.
