The clock will turn back with dance parties, trivia and trends for matchup against Madison

GENEVA, ILLINOIS — Halloween may be over, but this weekend provides the opportunity for Chicago Steel fans to break out their spandex, leg warmers and acid wash jeans for 80s Night Saturday, November 9 at the Fox Valley Ice Arena.

The weekend presents the first home-and-home set of the 2019-20 campaign as Chicago travels to Madison, Wis., to take on the Capitols on Friday, Nov. 8 at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena.

Both clubs will head South the following night as the Steel turn back the clock to host a fan-favorite, 80s Night! The nostalgic evening will have everyone’s favorite 80s jams, an 80s dance party with mascot Rusty and contests for fans featuring trends, movie soundtracks and trivia from the decade.

Carson Bantle paces the Capitols with 15 points (7G, 8A), tied for fifth among USHL skaters. The native of Onalaksa, Wis., earned a ‘C’ ranking on NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary watch list in October. Forward Ryan Kirwan has notched all seven of his points (3G, 4A) this season on the power play, tied for the most on the man advantage in the league during the 2019-20 campaign. Netminder Simon Latkoczy ranks third in the league with 557 minutes played through 10 appearances this year. The 5-foot-11, 163-pound goaltender has posted a 2-6-0-0 mark with a 3.77 goals-against average and an .892 save percentage.

The Steel split two games at home last weekend, falling 4-2 to the Youngstown Phantoms, then recovering for a 5-3 victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks the following night at Fox Valley Ice Arena. The Steel have an overall record of 8-3-1-0 (17 pts.), tied for first place in the Eastern Conference.

Hopkinton, Mass., native Sean Farrell notched his team-leading sixth multi-point outing of the season as he tallied a goal and an assist in the loss to Youngstown on Friday while forward Sam Colangelo notched two markers and a helper in the win on Saturday against Waterloo.
