Chicago Steel Alumni Update - August 19th, 2020

Six Steel alumni were included on rosters to begin the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. We're keeping track of every one of them and will be releasing updates every week throughout the playoffs.

JACCOB SLAVIN - CAROLINA HURRICANES

Through four games against the Boston Bruins, Slavin is one of two Hurricane blueliners to log 20 minutes of ice time in each contest.

During a 3-2 victory in Game 2 on Thursday, the former Steel skater led the team with six blocked shots while adding two hits. 

Slavin recorded four hits and four shot blocks in a 3-1 loss in Game 3 on Saturday and followed up the performance with 29:09 of time on ice in a 4-3 loss to the Bruins on Monday in Game 4.

Boston leads the first-round series by a 3-1 margin heading into Game 5 on Wednesday.

JAMIE OLEKSIAK - DALLAS STARS

The Toronto, Ontario native tucked home the game-winning goal with under a minute left in regulation during a 5-4 win in Game 2 against the Calgary Flames on Thursday.

After a 2-0 loss in Game 3 on Friday, Oleksiak logged a career, playoff-best, 26:31 of ice time in a 5-4 win in over the Flames in Game 4 on Sunday.

The former Northeastern University Husky shared the team lead with three blocked shots and added five hits in a 2-1 victory on Tuesday as Dallas took a 3-2 series lead. Oleksiak and the Stars can close out their first-round series against the Flames in their next matchup on Thursday.

MACKENZIE MACEACHERN - ST. LOUIS BLUES

MacEachern posted three hits in a 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks in Game 1 of the first-round series for the defending Stanley Cup champion, St. Louis Blues. 

The Canucks took a 2-0 series lead after a 4-3 overtime win on Friday, a game in which MacEachern did not dress.

The former Steel forward skated in 10:29 of game action, the most in his playoff career, in a 3-2 overtime win on Sunday as St. Louis notched their first win of the series.

The defending champs fought back to even the series with a 3-1 victory on Monday in Game 4 as MacEachern recorded two hits and two blocked shots.

JOHN MOORE - BOSTON BRUINS

Moore has yet to make his 2019-2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs debut through the Bruins' 3-1 series lead over the Carolina Hurricanes.

The 29-year-old has tallied four helpers in 48 career playoff appearances.

DAN VLADAR - BOSTON BRUINS

After not dressing for Game 2 on Thursday, a 3-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, Vladar served as the backup netminder for the Bruins in Games 3 and 4. Boston took back-to-back victories, a 3-1 decision in Game 3 and a 4-3 win in Game 4, to earn a 3-1 series lead.

The Prague, Czech Republic, native stepped into the backup role following netminder Tuukka Rask's decision to opt out of the 2019-2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Saturday.

ALEC REGULA - CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

Regula did not make his NHL debut as the Vegas Golden Knights eliminated the Chicago Blackhawks from the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 4-1 series win.

Chicago fell by a 4-3 score on Tuesday in the final contest of the series.
