Six Steel alumni were included on rosters to begin the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jamie Oleksiak of the Dallas Stars is now competing in the Western Conference Final and we're providing updates as the Stars continue their push to the Stanley Cup Final.
Oleksiak and the Stars dropped a 4-1 decision against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 on September 2nd during the second round of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dallas re-grouped to eliminate the Avs in Game 6 on Friday, a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory, to win the best-of-seven series by a 4-2 margin.
The former Steel blueliner picked up an assist on the overtime winner and recorded another career-high in playoff ice time with 27:25 of game action. Oleksiak added eight hits and two blocked shots in the series-clinching victory.
Dallas advanced to the Western Conference Final to face off against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The 6-foot-7, 255-pound defenseman helped his club to a 1-0 series advantage with three hits and one blocked shot in a 1-0 Game 1 win on Sunday.
Vegas evened the series with a 3-0 whitewash of the Stars on Tuesday with Oleksiak totaling three shots on goal in addition to three hits.
Olekisak ranks third among active playoff skaters with 79 total hits through 18 games in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
