GENEVA, ILLINOIS — Chicago Steel forward Adam Fantilli has been named United States Hockey League Forward of the Week for the first time in his USHL career, the league announced Tuesday.

Fantilli, a native of Nobleton, Ontario, registered a hat trick for the second time in his USHL career in a 6-3 victory against the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Friday, Nov. 12 in addition to picking up an assist in the win.

The 17-year-old added a pair of goals the following night in a 5-4 overtime loss against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

“Adam has been great for us all season and has shown he is an elite player in the USHL,” said Steel Head Coach Brock Sheahan. “He impacts the game every shift in a positive way, both offensively and defensively. Adam continues to develop his game at a high rate, and it is great to see the League recognize his efforts.”

This season, the top prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft has racked up 12 goals through 17 games, the most of any skater in the USHL thus far. Fantilli ranks second in the league in points with 22 (12G, 10A), trailing only fellow Steel forward, Jackson Blake.

In his rookie season, the 2020-2021 campaign, Fantilli totaled 36 points (18G, 18A) in 49 games before helping lead the Steel to the 2021 Clark Cup title. The University of Michigan commit won the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs MVP award, tallying eight goals and an assist in eight postseason games as a 16-year-old.

The Steel play their next two games on home ice, starting with a Friday night matchup against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Nov. 19 at 7:05 and culminating with a clash against the Madison Capitols on Saturday, Nov. 20 for Video Game Night, another 7:05 pm CT puck drop.
