Buffalo Sabres

C.J. Smith is currently tied for the Rochester Americans' (AHL) team lead with 29 points (13-16-29) this season and was recalled to the Buffalo Sabres on December 31. Smith registered three shots against the New York Islanders on New Year’s Eve. He previously appeared in two games for the Sabres during the 2016-2017 season.

Carolina Hurricanes

Jaccob Slavin put up five points (1-4-5) in December and has 13 points (3-10-13) this season.

Boston Bruins

John Moore collected three of his five assists this season during the month of December.


Hartford Wolf Pack

Steven Fogarty is currently on a four-game assist streak in road games that dates back to December 15. Fogarty has 21 points (8-13-21) in 25 games this season for the Wolf Pack. He was called up to the New York Rangers for 10 games this season with his last coming on the 10th against Tampa Bay. After returning to Hartford, Fogarty scored in four of six December games (1-6-7) including the final three games (1-5-6) of 2018.

Lehigh Valley Phantoms

Michael Huntebrinker is currently on a six-game goal streak that dates back to November 21. The forward recorded the second-longest point streak (12 games, October 19 to November 16) in the ECHL this season. The current goal streak also includes four-straight games with a goal on the road and he has also recorded a point in 10-straight road games dating back to October 19. Huntebrinker is currently fourth among Royals scorers with 24 points (11-13-24) in 19 games this season. He was recalled to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL and is now playing with fellow #SteelAlum Philip Samuelsson and Alex Krushelnyski.

Philip Samuelsson scored two of his three goals this season in the month of December. The defenseman could set a new career high, now in his eighth AHL season, as his current season best mark is five goals with the Portland Pirates in the 2014-2015 season.

Providence Bruins

Dan Vladar recorded his first shutout of the season on December 5 in a 35-save performance against the defending Calder Cup Champion Toronto Marlies.

Texas Stars

Travis Morin registered nine points (3-6-9) in December and now has 21 points (5-16-21) in 32 games this year. December included a stretch in which Morin record a point in seven of eight games.

Utica Comets

Richard Bachman won all three appearances in December and had a .904 save percentage and  a 2.82 goals against average.

Syracuse Crunch

Nolan Valleau picked up his first goal of the season in a December 28 matchup with Utica. It was the defenseman’s first goal since he scored three for the IceHogs during the 2016-2017 season.

San Antonio Rampage

Mackenzie MacEachern scored in three of the five games (1-3-4) he appeared in during the month of December.

Rockford IceHogs

Dennis Gilbert picked up two of his three assists this season during December on December 2 against San Antonio and December 19 against Milwaukee.


Florida Everblades

Nathan Perkovich is currently on a five-game goal streak in front of Everblades fans at Hertz Arena. The streak dates back to November 10 and is currently tied for the second-longest such streak in the ECHL this season. Perkovich has 14 points (10-4-14) in 26 games this season as the Everblades are currently second in the ECHL standings.

Adirondack Thunder

Alex Sakellaropoulos appeared in 18 games and ended 2018 with a 10-3-2-2 record for the Thunder. Sakellaropoulos is currently sixth in the ECHL for both goals against average (2.46) and save percentage (.919).

South Carolina Stingrays

Nine of Tim Davison’s 15 assists this season have come on the powerplay, a total that is tied for third among defensemen and tied for fourth among all rookie skaters in the ECHL.

Reading Royals

Alex Roos is currently fifth among ECHL rookies with a 26.3 shooting percentage as he has five goals on 19 shots this season.


Arizona State University

Johnny Walker recorded multi-point performances in three December games while he put up at least one point in four of the five games to close out 2018. His six goals (6-1-7) in December added to his NCAA-leading total of 18 in 21 games this season while his 25 points is tied for fifth.

National Leaders

A trio of #SteelAlum goaltenders are among the best in the NCAA this season as Tommy Nappier (Ohio State) is second in the NCAA with a 1.70 goals against average and .941 save percentage. Other former Steel players are also among the best in save percentage as Cale Morris (Notre Dame) is tied for sixth with a .931 rating and Trevor Gorsuch (Western Michigan) has a .927 which is tied for 14th in the NCAA.

Clarkson College

Jere Astren picked up his first goal of the season, also his first point, in his team’s December 8 contest against St. Lawrence. Junior defenseman and fellow #SteelAlum Shane Kuzmeski picked up his first collegiate point, an assist, on the goal as well. Kuzmeski then scored his first goal against in a December 29 game against Minnesota-Duluth.

Haralds Egle started the month with back-to-back games with a goal, which extended his point streak to six games (4-4-8) dating back to November 16.

University of Minnesota

Brannon McManus had a two-point game (1-1-2) on December 8 against Big Ten rival Michigan. The forward now has more multi-point games (3) than single point games (1) this season.

It took Robbie Stucker eight games to find his name on a collegiate score sheet, but he broke through on December 28 with a three-assist game against Ferris State.

Minnesota State University - Mankato 

Walker Duehr scored in four of five games (2-2-4) in December and has registered at least a point in five of Minnesota State’s last six games dating back to November 30.

Alec Vanko scored his first goal of the season on December 7 against Alaska-Anchorage. It was also the first point of the season for the defenseman in his third game and was assisted by fellow #SteelAlum Reggie Lutz.

Providence College

Jack Dugan ended 2018 with a three-game point streak (1-2-3) and has a point in 12 of 17 games this season for Providence.

Brandon Duhaime had three multi-point performances in December (1-7-8), including two three-point games. Duhaime has multiple points in every game he has a point in this season.

Ohio State University

Brendon Kearney had two assists on December 28 against Mercyhurst and now has seven points (4-3-7) in 18 games this season.

Tanner Laczynski scored in two of three December games and now has at least a point in 11 of 15 games this season.

Penn State University

Oskar Autio made his first collegiate appearance on December 7 against fellow #SteelAlum goaltender Cale Morris and Notre Dame.

Western Michigan University

Trevor Gorsuch won his first two games of December to extend his winning streak to five games dating back to November 16. The goaltender is 7-2-1 this season with a 2.13 goals against average and .927 save percentage.

Notre Dame University

Cale Morris recorded a 20-save shutout of Boston College on December 31 and was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week for his performance.

Union College

Sebastian Vidmar ended 2018 with a pair of multi-point performances in a four-point (2-2-4) weekend against Canisius. Vidmar has six multi-point games this season and has 13 points (6-7-13) in 17 games this season.

Bowling Green University

Connor McDonald put up his first multi-point performance of the year on December 1 when he had two assists against Alabama-Huntsville.

Brown University

Jack Gessert had an assist in Brown’s December 30 game against Army, which was his first point of the season and first since the 2016-2017 season.

Colorado College

Christiano Versich started the month with a three-point (1-2-3) performance against Nebraska-Omaha on December 1. He has eight points (2-6-8) in 20 games this season.

Dartmouth College

Connor Yau scored his first goal of the season in a December 30 matchup with Providence. The defenseman has seven points (1-6-7) in 13 games this season.

Harvard University

Reilly Walsh picked up an assist in a December 4 game against Bentley and now has at least one point in nine of 11 games for Harvard this season.

University of Maine

Eduards Tralmaks registered a point in three of four games (2-2-4) for Maine in December. The Latvian forward now has nine points (3-6-9) in 17 points.

Mercyhurst University

Joseph Duszak ended 2018 on a three-game point streak (2-3-5) and has scored in 12 of 19 games this season with 20 points (5-15-20) in his third season.

University of North Dakota 

Matt Kiersted had a point in both games in December (1-1-2) and now has a point in seven of the last nine games for North Dakota.

University of Wisconsin

Peter Tischke started December with points in back-to-back games (1-2-3) to extend his point streak to four games dating back to November 24.


Victoria Grizzlies

Jeremie Bucheler appeared in two games during December and is currently tied for fifth on the Island Division-leading Grizzlies with 32 points (5-27-32) this season. His 32 points is second among defensemen on the team and his 27 assists ranks third among all Victoria skaters and leads the blueliners.
